Because

The QWERTY keyboard was designed to slow typing down. Early typewriters jammed when typists hit the keys too hard and fast. By moving the most used keys under the weakest fingers and forcing the use of the left hand (slightly impairing right handed users) the mechanical devices performed better even though the design reduced speed and productivity. Interestingly, this keyboard with all of its known flaws continues to be the world standard because it is the world standard.

IP Communications faces certain growth or adoption restrictions in usage for the same reason. Why do businesses persist in having tethered phones when wireless is more comfortable, presents less clutter and provides mobility? Why do most businesses continue to place a call to their local LEC for phone service when there are so many more competitive offerings with a greater array of features and services? And finally, why does a small business owner facing an unpredictable market start by first leasing space, purchasing furniture, equipment and software, hiring local employees and basically follow the same methodology as every other startup. Because.

With IP communications, cloud based applications, collaboration tools and widely available bandwidth a business should develop without self imposed restrictions such as geography or traditional suppliers.

Recently, the Wall Street Journal blog listed the top ten dying industries and the largest industry on the list was “Wired Telecommunications Carriers”. Consequently, IBIS World produced a list of the top ten thriving industries and, although not the largest in terms of revenue, VoIP Service Providers experienced 194% growth between 2000 and 2010. ITSPs outpaced the next best performer over the period, Internet Publishing and Broadcasting, by nearly eight times or 194% to 25.2%.

Adopting IP communications enables access to much greater opportunities for transforming business practices to adapt to market trends and demands more quickly. This can be done with less capital, reduced infrastructure, and fewer employees while positioning the business with a greater chance of success. Every industry, service and business application can benefit from the exciting new frontiers of IP communications (telephony, video, messaging, data), Unified Communications, Fixed-Mobile Convergence and Cloud Computing. While these terms can be construed as buzz words or applications of the future such a designation would be incorrect. Broadvox, Cypress Communications and our OEM partners provide these solutions customized to fit a diverse set of requirements and goals. Only by combining the talents of the entire IP ecosystem is this possible.

Why is this important to you? Because “Because” is just not good enough.
