Cheddar Cheese and Bacon Biscuits

Ingredients
•    2  cups all-purpose flour
•    2 teaspoons sugar
•    4 teaspoons  baking powder
•    ¼ teaspoon baking soda
•    ½  teaspoon salt
•    ¼  teaspoon cream of tartar
•    ½ cup butter-flavored shortening (Crisco)
•    ¾  cup buttermilk
•    ½ cup grated cheddar cheese
•    ½ cup crumbled/dice bacon
•    2 tablespoons melted butter

Directions
Preheat oven to 425oF.
Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cream of tartar, and shortening in a bowl. Cut shortening using either a fork or pastry blender into dry mixture until blended completely and crumbly. Add buttermilk, cheese and bacon stirring until incorporated. Dust a dry flat surface with flour. Roll out dough to ¾ to 1 inch thick; using a cookie cutter cut out 2 inch circles and place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Immediately brush hot biscuits with melted butter.
