Rethinking Do Not Call

in this multichannel/customer in charge era it makes no sense at all to continue with opt-our regimes like DNC and CAN-SPAM. Opt-in, and tough, enforced and integrated legislation is what today's environment calls for to enable consumers to conduct interactions and transactions without being bothered at their cost by scam artists and thieves pretending to be 'marketers'

Memo to Canada's CRTC: Shame the Telemarketers, Release the Names

The CRTC's reasoning--or in the view of critics, excuse,--according to vice-chairman of telecommunications Leonard Katz is that the "'intent here is to promote compliance,' not punish the companies by publicizing their names right away." Nonsense. The only way you get these characters to clean up their acts is by shaming them in front of the very people that they have been seeking as customers, but chose to violate their rights by breaking the rules designed to protect them. IOW hurt them where it counts in sales and reputation.

Tougher Actions To Save Telemarketing

Here we go again...another gang of skels abusing telemarketing and robocalling i.e. automated dialers calling to connive money out of consumers including those with cell numbers and who have gone to the trouble to place their numbers on Do Not Call lists (DNC).When the rights of consumers/customers to be free of fraud and to enjoy their property without trespass and theft are as respected and acted on when it occurs electronically (phone, fax, e-mail, online) as when it happens in-person then perhaps there will be much fewer such incidents with telemarketing and other electronic marketing forms. Shrinking back this specter of illegitimacy will permit companies and nonprofits alike to use these means effectively with true freedom through increased trust by contacted parties, who in turn will be happy to do business via these channels again. .

Handling The Next Telemarketing Regulations

To ensure that the next set of regulations that will be coming down the pipeline from legislators are fair and effective the telemarketing industry needs to devise some solutions of their own, use their self-regulatory mechanisms to test them and build consensus and at the same time sit down with lawmakers to go over these issues. That the industry is already taking proactive steps to come up with answers that could offer them guidance acknowledges the pain the lawmakers are getting from their constituents, which gets them onside.

Canada's Do Not Call

In just less than two months from now, Canada's new Do Not Call registry will go live. This new regulation, and others, will have at last some enforcement teeth in the way of steep fines. These methods will help clean up the telemarketing industry that unfortunately like any other field has a few bad actors, poor managers, and greedy companies. Telemarketers will also benefit by using the DNC to generate a higher lead/sale per prospect ratio by not calling people who clearly don't want to buy by phone.
