Foundation of Achievement Part III

Coach I think through the foundation components on my own, I added one more tonight on the element of Coach. According to Dave Hibbard, a Coach is the much-needed mentor that can transform your skills/Mechanics into something much greater. I very much agree with that but I also considered what then is my role as the VP of Sales. I remember my two mentors fondly, Dr. Robert J. Byrne and Bruce Dougherty. I can mentor one or two members of my team but mostly they need another resource to be a mentor.  Consequently, considering my role at Broadvox as Coach took a different direction.

Coach: In my current role, I have a leadership responsibility that coordinates the various Mechanics, Visions and Stories within the group.  Therefore, I added the following definitions to Coach (please note; added not replaced):

·         Leadership

o   Guidance

o   Empowerment

o   Game plan

In offering leadership to the individuals and team, I see my role as guiding them to achieve individual and common goals. I must also empower them to execute. If they have the appropriate Mechanics, then I can provide the tools and environment enabling them to be proactive in their pursuit of selling our SIP Trunking product offering. Finally, someone must set an overall game plan for the team. We all know the goal is to sell or in some way participate in the success of Broadvox. However, the Coach needs to establish the game strategy and tactics. It is in this way, we will win. Establishing our product offering, pricing, competitive response and marketing effort are key efforts as the team Coach.

See you on Friday with my final takeaways on this subject...
