The Cream of the Crop

This weekend was great for food. It began on Friday with beer battered fish and chips. Since I had the oil hot, I also fried a half of a breast of turkey. I tend to do that verses frying an entire turkey when cooking for the two of us. You really should try deep fried turkey. It is usually well seasoned and often has flavorings injected into the meat prior to frying. On Sunday, I smoked extra thick pork chops that had marinated over night in Dr. Pepper and salt. They were a real surprise. I glazed them when nearly done with a honey barbeque sauce flavored with a bit of...you guessed it, more Dr. Pepper. I reduced again to combine and achieve a glaze consistency but what a fresh set of flavors. I will make those again. So, with all of those great dishes, what was the recipe of the weekend? Creamed Corn. Seriously, I was sitting at the kitchen table on Saturday, thinking about side dishes and realized I hadn't had creamed corn in years. In fact, I am sure I have never made creamed corn. However, it is the season for corn. It is really sweet off the cob and it seemed like the right dish to try. It was fantastic! Better than the stuff from the can or freezer section and it took less than thirty minutes to prepare the Creamed Corn.  Enjoy!

I almost forgot. I also made cherry vanilla, blackberry, white chocolate and double chocolate ice creams. I am ready for the summer, grandkids and grilling.

Is the cream of the crop the iPhone, BlackBerry or Prē?

Actually, I have no opinion on which of these wins but a thought did cross my mind as I read the reviews for the new Prē. Surfing the web was functional at best until the iPhone. However, if the multi-tasking Prē sets the new direction for handsets by running multiple applications and tabs, then a major change may be in the wings for mobility and data traffic. This is of interest to Broadvox, ITSPs and ISPs. There could be some unexpected growth in IP traffic. It will be interesting to see if there is a real increase on the movement from surfing on PCs to surfing on phones.

As to which of these three is the better phone, I don't have a horse in this race but I will be watching.

See you on Wednesday.
