Record Snowfall in Dallas

While we are all aware that the east coast has been hammered this year with snow, Dallas and other areas in the south have been spared until yesterday. Having lived here for nearly twenty-five years, snowfall is not unusual. However, getting more than couple of inches is. DFW airport reported 12 inches of snow. Personally, we got around eight inches, which was enough to make driving in the neighborhood problematic. After a brief sojourn out to see if I should drive to the office, I decided to work from home.

What is so good about using an IP PBX and having a good broadband connection, is that no one knows that I am not in the office. Moreover, since I set up every office meeting with a conference bridge attached, we can maintain scheduled meetings without additional communication. Finally, I began using a single phone number two and a half years ago, so vendors, partners and even other Broadvox employees never need to dial an additional number to reach me. By the way, I use simultaneous ringing in order to minimize the time it takes to contact me. As some of you know, the result of this is I do not know my cell phone number.

Earlier today, I read that the cost benefit of IP Telephony was now too hard to ignore. This was according to a Frost and Sullivan analyst. Interesting, that given the economic times, businesses were ignoring the cost savings of transitioning to IP communications.

With that in mind, next week we will re-examine the cost savings of transitioning to SIP Trunking. In the meantime, it seems like a good day to work on new marketing collateral and make Texas Chili.

See you on Monday...
