Convergys Opens HR Services Center In Austin

Convergys Corporation, a provider of customer care, human resources and billing services, announced today the opening of a new human resources service center in Austin, Texas, to serve the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC).

The new Convergys facility measures out at nearly 27,000 sq. feet. Further, it houses 167 production stations. More than 80 professionals are currently servicing HHSC employees from the Austin center. The new state-of-the-art facility comes after a five-year contract awarded to Convergys in 2004 to provide comprehensive human resources and payroll services for the HHSC’s 46,000 employees.

According to the company announcement, “contract implementation is going well,” and the Convergys and HHSC implementation teams have achieved four significant achievements thus far:

System Design Phase, i.e., blueprinting, completed in December 2004;
AccessHR Website, which went live in January 2005;
AccessHR Service Center, for handling employee benefits and unemployment insurance (went live in April 2005); and
Recruiting, Staffing and Learning administration, which went live in May 2005.

Convergys currently employs more than 5,000 people in Texas in contact centers and other offices in Austin, Brownsville, Houston, Killeen, Lubbock and Pharr.
