Siemens Offers Next-Gen Exchange Solution

June 21, 2005

Siemens Communications, Inc., a provider of convergent technologies, products and services for wireless, fixed and enterprise networks, this morning announced its Next Generation Exchange (NGE) offering, designed for U.S. service providers that want to deliver unified data, video and VoIP services without dipping too deeply into their pockets to cover those costly infrastructure transitions in relation to legacy time-division multiplexing (TDM) network environments.

The NGE offering supports both TDM and packet voice services

A carrier-grade, open and standards-based architecture solution, the Siemens NGE family comprises the Siemens SURPASS soft-switch platform, best-of-breed gateways and a combo of integration services from Siemens.

According to the company’s announcement:

“Scalable to more than 100,000 lines, the Siemens NGE portfolio provides for migration to the complete family of Siemens SURPASS IP solutions for the home and business. The NGE offering complements Siemens’ family of SURPASS NGN solutions including Voice over Broadband (VoBB), Hosted Office (BC) and Voice over Cable (VoC).”
