October 4, 2007
With October 16, the release date of OCS fast approach, the world is buzzing all over.  The telephony world is going to get a "new sheriff" and better get ready to learn telephony according to Microsoft.  Starting now, I will add some of the cool new features and explain the way Microsoft approaches the telephony (SIP/VoIP) world.  Concepts like Forests, Schema, Kerberos, Active Directory and the vast array of other Microsoft terms will be explored.

Today, we begin with Federation. OCS-Office Communications Server supports both 1-1 and 1-X messaging internally and Federation IM-Instant Messaging. With one-to-one instant messaging, two users can exchange IM-instant messages. With I-X-group instant messaging, three or more users can exchange instant messages. Federation IM is IM allows communications of IM, exchange notification and presence (SIP) with users of another organization.
