So we're all wondering just what the downloadable content (DLC) for Fallout 4 will be, and given that the word is that Fallout 4's DLC will be shaped by fan input, I'll go ahead and put up my own input in terms of where we should be going in Fallout 4's DLC. I've got three nifty ideas that should spark some interest, so have a look and see what you think.
1. Ronto. We've heard enough about Ronto--the bastardized Fallout version of "Toronto" from the same people who turned a motel into a small settlement by calling it Novac based on "No Vacancy"--to not only know it's there, but to know that there's a lot going on. All the way back in Fallout 3 with the DLC "The Pitt", we've heard about Ronto's untouched military might. It's also the only region not yet seen after the speech Ashur gave in that same expanion. Ashur calls The Pitt's industry the envy of the Commonwealth, which we've seen firsthand, and its safety the envy of the Capital Wastes. It also declares The Pitt's might to be the envy of Ronto, and now, that's the only region we haven't yet seen.
2. The Erie Stretch. Also mentioned briefly in The Pitt, it's another area that could be worth noting. We know virtually nothing about it, but knowing what we know, it's got some elements of Lake Erie, which means just about anything from Pennsylvania to Michigan. These are places we've yet to see, and getting a look at them could be exciting. What's in these places? New weapons? New plotlines? New challenges? Lots of opportunity here, and a great opportunity.
3. The Capital Wasteland. I know, we were already there back in Fallout 3, but one thing that's clear from the last game and from the Elder Scrolls lineup is that people want to know what's been happening in regions we've already been to. Surely there were those out there that, when Elder Scrolls Online came out, were dying to go check out Morrowind for the first time in a decade. A similar feeling might be on hand for the Capital Wasteland. Is Rivet City still a big deal? Has the Republic of Dave expanded outward to take over Old Olney?
These are just some of the locations that DLC could tackle, and there are plenty more we could consider from here. We could go farther south into Florida or the like. We could hit Chicago, or Seattle, or even Anchorage. We could go back to the Mojave Wasteland and catch up there. We've got options aplenty--some have even suggested the Moon--to consider, so it's all a matter of just which ones we ultimately go with. Personally, I'd like to see us make a quick step over to Monroeville, where the Monroeville Mall awaits.
Stuffed with feral ghouls.
