Everyone knows that Black Friday deals mean big things to come, and great potential opportunities to pick up exciting products for comparatively cheap. Gaming is no exception, and some recent leaks suggest that Microsoft and Sony alike are set to see some big discounts at several stores for the unofficial start to the holiday shopping season...even though many have already begun.
The leaks are noteworthy enough, and feature Sam's Club, Dell and eBay. Sam's Club will offer up the Xbox One Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and PlayStation 4 Uncharted 4: A Thief's End bundles for $249, and both the Battlefield 1 and Minecraft bundles for Xbox One S at $249, with extra controller. For $299 online at Sam's Club, gamers can get the Xbox One Battlefield 1 / Gears of War bundle for $299, with extra controller.
A nice mix, but Dell and eBay won't be denied. Dell will beat Sam's Club's offer by $50, and eBay will offer the PS4 Slim Bundle with Uncharted 4 for $249.99.
Not particularly terrible deals, really, especially for those considering a new gaming system for Christmas. Both Microsoft and Sony need to tap into those gaming markets that haven't tried their products yet, which isn't exactly a huge market. Granted, some gamers might be interested in going cross-platform--even I, an Xbox One player, have considered a PS4 on more than one occasion--but with the upgraded consoles either out or not so far out, it might be straining the market demand to expect a whole lot of action there. It's also a surprise to see the Xbox One S go to discount so fast, but then, Microsoft might want to drop prices to get more buyers in the door. After all, there might not be many Xbox One owners willing to throw over a working Xbox One for a slightly better version without a discount.
Regardless of the possible explanations, it's clear that some good deals will be on hand, even if we see no more before the big day. Black Friday has always been an impressive shopping day for gamers, and these leaked deals only make it clear this year won't be any different.
