Grading My 2012 Predictions

November 27, 2012

It’s that horrible time of year to grade my 2012 predictions from a year ago.

1. 2012 will be year of interactivity.  What does that mean?  The increased penetration of smartphones worldwide, with worldwide 3G network buildout, will enable more mobile interactivity via social networking tools like Facebook and Skype instant messaging.

A view of the African telecommunications market - moving towards solutions

November 20, 2012

(This blog is the 3rd in a 3 part series.)

According to Wireless Intelligence Q3 2012 data, Africa is the world’s fastest growing region for mobile, as 3G passes the 10% mark for all wireless subscriptions on the continent.  And there is a huge upside as Wireless Intelligence also reports that African mobile penetration is just 33%, so the upside is tremendous.  There are even LTE rollouts in some countries.  This is important since as seen in other parts of the world, 3G or better is a tipping-point since this represents mobile on-ramp technology due to the speed of the 3G connection.

A view of the African telecommunications market - the challenge

November 13, 2012

Last week I looked at the reality of the African telecommunications market.  Today I will look at the challenge ahead.

All emerging markets have the potential for explosive growth, and the African telecommunications market is starting to deliver on its immense promise.

Baseball, America's Other Favorite Pastime (Besides Using Mobile Devices)

November 1, 2012

For many of us in the United States and Canada, the changing of seasons and the falling of leaves signifies the return of the Fall Classic. The World Series in baseball concluded one day before the Frankenstorm descended on the Eastern part of the US (and since I’m just getting internet access back today, I’m posting this late!), and the San Francisco Giants beat the Detroit Tigers to win the Commissioner’s trophy. If you couldn’t watch it at your home or at a sports bar, I hope you streamed it to your mobile device with MLB’s At Bat 12 application!

Here at Dialogic, we decided to get into the World Series spirit a few weeks ago, when we ran a contest for a one of a kind Dialogic Baseball.
