NFV Vendor Challenges Part 1

August 25, 2015

We’ve all likely seen the Gartner hype cycle for emerging technologies curve.  I remember many, many years ago when I first saw that curve.  I don’t even remember what it was about, but it had the Peak of Inflated Expectations, and then the dip down, and then the path to nirvana.  That curve stays relevant over time because it is so true.

The Importance of a Software Media Server/Media Resource Broker to Handle Diverse Multimedia Resource Requirements in a VoLTE Network

August 18, 2015

It would be nice sometimes to live in a bubble where you would only have to deal with what was in that bubble. If a Voice over LTE (VoLTE) network existed in a bubble, it would have known multimedia requirements in the form of the codecs and functions specified in the IR.92 and IR.94 voice and video specs. However, a VoLTE network , like us, does not exist in a bubble; that is, we both need to interact with our entire environment. It would be boring if we lived in a bubble anyway!

Exploring the Current Status of WebRTC

August 11, 2015

Last week I was doing some research on WebRTC and I noticed that a lot of the information related to this topic was not from 2015; rather, it was from 2013 or 2014. As a result I couldn’t help but wonder: Does that mean WebRTC is losing its steam, or have we entered a lull in the hype regarding WebRTC?

My sense is that this lull period is typical of new technologies.

IPX Can Enable Revenue Innovation for Voice Wholesalers--Part II

August 4, 2015

In Part 1 of this series, I wrote about a couple of revenue generating ideas for IPX providers. So how can an IPX provider go about this?  Firstly, the IPX platform needs to be up-to-date as well as support IPX standards. Obviously Dialogic provides an IPX platform or I wouldn’t be writing about this, right?
