My past two blogs have been about NFV Vendor challenges. From the xSP side, I continue to see what I’ll call extreme interest in our NFV plans. The xSP’s want to deploy NFV for the reasons the industry has been talking about – CAPEX reduction, OPEX reduction, and New Service Delivery – and they want to deploy it as fast as possible. For instance, AT&T has stated that 5% of its network will be virtualized by the end of this year. That’s a lot of equipment. NTT DoCoMo has also been public about its plans.
To learn more, there are a lot of conferences coming up:
NFVExpo: Oct 6-8 in Anaheim, California
SDN and OpenFlow World Congress: Oct 12-16 in Dusseldorf, Germany
OPNFV Summit: Nov 9-12 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport
