Services and Applications are the Jewels of NFV

October 27, 2015

As readers of this blog know, I have been travelling to conferences to attend, speak, and have in-depth discussions. One item I am talking about, and asking about, and interfacing with people about is NFV.  Everyone gets that NFV can reduce CAPEX and OPEX. The telcos get it, and believe me, the vendors get it as it means reduced revenues, and changes in their business models if they have predominantly been hardware infrastructure suppliers.

Dialogic Worldwide Exec Summits Continue in Tokyo

October 13, 2015

In two weeks, I will be in Tokyo for the continuation of our worldwide road trip for our customers and prospects. The trip will be focused on meeting the needs of the service provider community. It’s always interesting going to Japan as their networks are typically ahead of the rest of the world— that’s where I first heard about SDN/NFV.  I’m sure we’ll be hearing about 5G and Internet of Things networks on this trip.

OpenWorld and NFV

October 6, 2015

I will be speaking at Oracle OpenWorld on October 26 on the topic of NFVOracle wants the panel to be about the obstacles NFV faces that have to be overcome.  I will certainly be able to speak about that since Dialogic has a lot of experience with positioning software against hardware based solutions, especially in the area of media processing.  And regarding NFV itself, there are issues relating to how to “think” about an NFV solution on a network diagram.
