It's the second day of ITEXPO - I am at StartUp Camp7 listening to startups pitch the audience and panel on why their applications are the best. The founder of ProtegGO is speaking right now - he seems to have the audience interested. The idea behind the app is tthat a few minutes can save lives in an emergency. the app alerts 15 people in the event of an emergency.
I met with Telefónica along with some other media analysts at ITEXPO just a few moments ago. At ITEXPO Telefónica is announcing they are launching a channel partner program. Telefónica has a very strong presence in South America and Europe, but now they want to come to the U.S. market.
The Future of Cloud Computing panel was a big hit at ITEXPO Miami 2013 - lots of great information. Thanks to all who attended - here is a picture. I am at Telefonica press conference right now they have huge news about their new US-based channel partner program which will break at any moment. I am looking forward to hearing John Sculley speak here at the show later today and later - at 8:00 pm I'll be at the ITEXPO conference party at the Loews Hotel.
As a reminder, John Sculley is famous for inventing the Pepsi Challenge and also was the man who fired Steve Jobs and was later fired by him. We are honored to have him here.

Right now the future of cloud computing panel is taking place and then the exhibit hall opens. Its been a great day so far. Seems like there is lots of optimism about the future.
Telefónica Digital's Tim Marsden just began his keynote presentation at ITEXPO Miami. He's talking a lot about mobility, high availability, disaster recovery, and cloud technologies. Here's a photo.
Adam Linford of Trufone breaks exclusive news to Rich Tehrani (me :-) ) at ITEXPO that his company has a new VoIP app which works with the new Blackberry 10 OS which was launched today and is being shown here at ITEXPO Miami 2013. It also works with the company's global mobile SIM which allows many phones to utilize reduced calling rates around the world. Check out the video below for more.

With so much going on in the world of technology, we've done our best at TMC to fill ITEXPO with content you need and more importantly can't find anywhere else. More importantly, you have to wait a full seven months for another chance to attend this event. This email was sent today by my team to expo registrants. It's an update on important happenings.
There is so much happening at ITEXPO next week I thought it made sense to share the latest show daily from the event - Friday, Jan 25, 2013. Some of the companies mentioned are Microsoft and specifically their Lync platform and UC connection, Truphone, TransNexus, Sangoma and FiberMedia. There is also a great conversation about BYOD versus BYOI or bring your own identity. There's lots more - check it out for yourself to see some of the exciting happenings at the show.
You may have seen my article in a multi-day USA Today insert recently where the topic was the Age of Acceleration. In it I detailed how the world is moving faster and technology is playing a crucial role in allowing us to keep up. Some in fact are ahead of the curve. Of course when you are in a race to arm your decision-makers with relevant information, minutes and sometimes seconds count.

Software-defined networking is considered by many to be one of the most important, and potentially disruptive, developments in networking since the rise of the Internet. To date, networks and connectivity have come first, and applications have followed. SDN turns this model on its head, approaching networking from an apps-first standpoint.
One of the most important trends in networking and communications is software defined networking or SDN. At your request we have put together an SDN preconference at ITEXPO in Miami which teaches you everything you need to know about this emerging topic. Come to the show and boost your career and company by staying on top of this hot trend which is transforming networking the way virtualization has transformed computing.

ITEXPO in Miami, FL takes place in about two weeks and it is going to be awesome. I will be covering the show in this space and wanted to start off by saying how excited I am that John Sculley will be part of the show – keynoting StartupCamp7 – one of the most exciting events at the conference. You can learn more about the situation between Jobs and Sculley in Forbes and on Tom Keating’s blog.
It’s worth noting that there is controversy as to whether Jobs was fired or demoted but whatever specifically happened is not as important as the fact that the incident started a cascade of events which changed music, entertainment, computing and mobility forever.
