Video conferencing has held promise for many years - dating back to the 1964 AT&T Picturephone, but now has the time finally arrived for video conferencing to take off? The simple answer is "yes", but it's way more complicated than that. Yes, standards like SIP and H.264 have made video interoperability between endpoints less of an issue, but there are other issues to consider. For instance, Polycom, Cisco, Avaya, and LifeSize have very expensive MCUs for their in-room conferencing systems.

The set up of ITEXPO takes place today and tomorrow. Starting in the morning we welcome attendees to Asterisk 123 which takes place at 9:00 am. This will be a great opportunity to learn about open-source communications.

Its a huge day for M2M tomorrow as well - the ILS Technology Workshop also kicks off at 9:00 am and then at 2:00 pm its Battle of the M2M Platforms which was a huge hit the last time it ran.
