Snom is Smokin' Hot!

March 20, 2009 7:08 AM | 0 Comments
Busy, mad, fast, furious, happy busy, and so I've been gone for 17 days deep in Super Technologies and DIDX work. But! I must write this morning. Why? One word, snom.

First, snom (who are at the VoiceCon in Orlando this week) has made the smart move and is launching the IP Phones Channel on TMCnet. If you want to be a part of the most energetic, intelligent, and visionary IP communications encyclopedia and marketplace, launch your own Channel on TMCnet. Contact Anthony Graffeo today.

snom technology AG develops and manufactures Voice-over-IP (VoIP) telephones and related equipment based on the IETF open standard, SIP (Session Initiation Protocol). Founded in 1996 (just one year after Super Technologies started up) and headquartered in Berlin, Germany, snom technology AG also has an office in North Andover, MA. The company distributes its fourth generation of SIP phones through its network of authorized reseller partners in Europe, South America, Asia-Pac, Africa, and Australia.

And by the way, clients do pay attention to things like how green is your technology? Check out how green snom is at http://www.tmcnet.com/channels/ip-phones/articles/52605-going-green-with-snoms-voip-phones.htm

Next, I just learned from Paul Deane that snom IP phones can receive a DID if you're using PBXnSIP! Nice and now listed on snom interopability list.

We met snom at Gitex in Dubai 2008. Their booth was about two rows from DIDX's. They attended our Desert Dinner Safari and were the stars of the party with the most creative acts in every accent on our planet. We think of them as friends, yes, but we admire the directions they are taking in 2009, a year of promise! You'll see them and us and several several thousands of our and your global IP communications friends at ITEXPO West in October 2009.

Symbian Madness

Visit the Symbian candy store at http://www.symbian-freak.com/downloads/freeware/freeware.htm. Listen to a world-reknowned Symbian developer Bernd Wiegmann on DIDX podcasts. I hope to have another conversation with him soon.
02162009(010).jpgPaul Deane and I met Ziv Rotblit of Skuku (only 3 months old and already serving 20 countries) at GSM in Barcelona this year. Their services lets you turn your PC into your cell phone anywhere in the world" is very accurate. They offer their users the added flexibility of staying in their home network with their own number and local plan prices no matter where they are in the world.

Essentially, their technological breakthrough is the convergence of the GSM network and the Internet. They can help people traveling abroad save a lot of money on their roaming charges, but the beauty lies in the fact that they do it from their own cell number that doesn't change no matter where they are in the world.

Skuku users can also receive calls and text messages directly to their number so there's no need to notify clients or business partners that they're traveling. They can still call using your regular cell number. The company is searching for good distributors, so tell them Suzanne sent you.

Other services that reduce mobile roaming and include incoming international phone numbers from as many as 54 countries: Skype, Celtrek, MaxRoam, Nimbuzz, Tringme, Rebtel, Gizmo5, and Jaxtr. (Not an all inclusive list.)
