iViaWorld is a B2B Travel Marketplace that uses SMS, VoIP, SIP, IM, email and more. They have appointed Net Magic to maintain its server. iViaWorld connects buyers and suppliers globally.

"FlightRaja Travels, the parent company of iViaWorld has appointed Net Magic a managed IT service provider, specializing in Internet data centers to maintain the server. The server has been hosted at the Information Technology Park (ITPL) in Bangalore."

I want to watch them all, but gotta go run the 8 mile airport loop before it gets too hot. Just found Metacafe's list of IP communications and voip-related videos at http://www.metacafe.com/tags/voip/page-9/.
Another reason for IP communications companies to take part in the ITU Telecom World 2009 in Geneva, Switzerland. See sponsor pages, media partner list, exhibit, register and sign up as press. ITU's event only occurs every few years. Don't miss.

"THE COMMISSION on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) is bent on building an ICT hub in every province in the country, having seen the importance of ICT in economic development and nation-building.

During the launch of the Next Wave Cities 2009 annual report yesterday, CICT Chair Ray Anthony Roxas-Chua III said the commission would constantly update its list of cities to be assessed under the Next Wave Cities program, identifying urban centers most suited for business process outsourcing operations."

An excerpt from the article at Inventors Digest regarding an invention entry in the Imagine Cup 2009, "

Another team from Russia, OmniMusic, solved the latency problem with Internet video streaming. The team won the competition's software design prize in 2005. Teammates Stanislav Vonog, Nikolay Surin, Alexander Popov and Ruslan Gilfanov were musicians from different parts of that country and wanted to rehearse remotely in real time.

They marketed themselves to the music industry. Turns out the Internet phone or VOIP carriers were the most interested in their technology."

Copy of Mary Anne Tolentino's Facebook wall discussion on Nokia or iPhone...

Mary Anne Tolentino... someone told me Texting in iphone is quite challenging. I tested it a few days ago in the apple store, medyo hard nga....easier with N97. Ergo, I need to decide will it be N97 or Iphone 3GS? Of course iphone looks sexiersmile

Suzanne Bowen... Mary Anne, Perry Ismangil said the Nokia series is easier to text and use Internet on than the iPhone. He's at http://perry.ismangil.com/. I use Nokia e61i, a little older than the 97. Enjoy, whatever you decide!

Jed Domingo... My humble vote goes for the N97...8-)

Mary Anne Tolentino... Txtng is impt but there are other considerations. Read a lot of reviews. Checked it out in apple store and nokia but briefly. I dont like to make a mistake cause will be tied up 2 yrs..........so

Elmar M. Gomez... iPhone. Use N97 for your other SIM.smile

Eric Tiongson... If texting is that important, I'd suggest the N97. :-) I'm using an E71 and I can't imagine doing as much typing as I do on an iPhone.

Mary Anne Tolentino... voice calls, SMS, email very impt, internet sufing, FB of course, video, camera those are the impt stuff I use it for. Not music, mauubos battery agad. Another consideration is, can I get a spare battery at once? mpt for me. cant wait to have it charged before i use it again.

Eric Tiongson... iPhone's cannot have their battery replaced, so usability-wise N97 is looking good for you. :-)

Catch though is that if you don't get an iPhone from Globe now, you might not get one in the next 2 years. Whereas Nokia's can be purchased anytime anywhere.

Mary Anne Tolentino... so you mean they wont sell iphone in the open market? will u not get an iphone for u?

Eric Tiongson... they offered the older iPhone model, i want the new one. not sure if they have any on stock by now. :-)

and, nope, not aware of any plans to open up iPhone anytime soon.

Suzanne Bowen... This is an excellent discussion on cell phone choice, Mary Anne. Small favor? Can I copy this discussion to my blog? Can I leave your names in or do I give a pseudo name for each? The content is something people should read.

Mary Anne Tolentino... but some of the sentences are in the vernacularsmile

And some in a very natural and inviting way.

Check out the following and decide who is leveraging the best. SEM (social engine marketing) is a hot tool for monetizing IP communications, especially if you're a natural!

I read once where someone made fun of a member of the Asterisk-Biz list for making a statement with the phrase "VoIP providers like Shortel" as if Shoretel was synonymous with VoIP. There was nothing to laugh at then and nothing to laugh at now. The company is giving a free unified communications handbook, too.

From the About Us page on Shoretel website... "ShoreTel, Inc., (NASDAQ: SHOR) is a leading provider of Pure IP unified communications systems. ShoreTel enables companies of any size to seamlessly integrate all communications-voice, data, messaging-with their business processes. Independent of device or location, ShoreTel's distributed software architecture eliminates the traditional costs, complexity and reliability issues typically associated with other solutions. ShoreTel continues to deliver the highest levels of customer satisfaction, ease of use and manageability while driving down the overall total cost of ownership. ShoreTel is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, and has regional offices in the United Kingdom, Sydney, Australia and Munich, Germany."

I'd like to have a meeting with Shoretel at ITEXPO West.Would anyone connect me?
Nokia has agreed to sell the professional services unit of its Symbian mobile phone operating system to the U.S. consulting firm Accenture, officials say. Symbian faces competition "from Apple's iPhone, Google's Android and Research In Motion's BlackBerry, Information Week said."

Dusan Belic at IntoMobile blog notes... that 165 Nokia employees will be transferred to Accenture. Find out more about Symbian on Wikipedia and the Symbian Foundation website. Listen to my interview with a two time Nokia competition winner Bernd Wiegmann who is a Symbian expert on DIDX podcast.

Read the news on FierceVoIP. "ILEC Sandwich Isles Communications wants to play with the big boys and is taking its best shot, trying to buy Hawaiian Telcom out of bankruptcy for $400 million. The private company, based in Honolulu, finally got the go-ahead from a federal bankruptcy judge to propose a different Chapter 11 plan than the one cash-strapped HT had already filed. The HT proposal, filed June 3, essentially would make it a ward of a consortium of banks for $590 million..."

So, you have a hundreds, if not thousands of customers who trust you because of your track history of quality service and products. Need to satisfy your customers more fully? Need to see new revenue and keep your current customers as well as gain new? Ever thought of providing ISP service to your customers but don't have the finances to buy the necessary equipment and network? Consider the lucrative business of becoming a virtual ISP.

What are the advantages? The entrepreneur or business owner will partner with a third-party provider in order to offer ISP services without the traditional expenses and duties normally required. The virtual ISP will not invest in any network, equipment or backroom/technical support needed to offer ISP services. Instead, the third-party provider handles the needs of the end user but is invisible to the end user who only sees the virtual ISP.

Example: Company Z is an online auction provider in a local area who wants to extend its services to offer its customers ISP services to bring additional value to its customers and to become a more global brand name. Company Z is a retailer and does not have the traditioanl resources to include services in ISP (Internet Service Provision). It will hire Company Y, an existing ISP, to provide the ISP services. Company Y will create a re-branded ISP for Company Z so that Company Z's customers fell comfortable with securing their ISP services through the online auction provider, a business they have trust in already. In reality Company Y, the real ISP, is providing the services. Company Y who invisible to the end user.

Company Z is now not only an online auction provider in a local area, but also a virtual ISP in that local area and also with the potential of the globe as its potential market, the trust of their current customers.

Ruckuss Wireless, at http://www.ruckuswireless.com, is a popular service provider as is evident by the crowds at their booth at CommunicAsia 2009 in Singapore and I remember the same at their booth at EXPOCOMM Mexico 2007. Michael Paparella was the spokesperson on this video on Youtube

The company offers solutions for multi-media in the WIFI industry. They choose to participate in CommunicAsia each year because of the yearly accomplishment of building new business solutions with current and new partners.

One common theme I heard over and over at CommunicAsia 2009 from participants, whether sponsors, attendees, exhibitors and other press agents was that CommunicAsia draws more participation from the right people and companies in the APEC region ... and second seems to be PTC in Hawaii every January and third ITCN Asia every August in Karachi.

DIDXchange at http://www.didx.net is a media partner for CommunicAsia and ITCN Asia and also press agent via its media tools on podcast, video, photo gallery, blogs and DID/DDI media channel at http://www.tmcnet.com/channels/did-ddi/.

Greg Galitzine quoted Rob Pullens, Tellabs CEO, in a discussion about the market turmoil, in the May 2009 NGN magazine, "That certainly surprised me," said Pullen, "and as you can imagine, like everyone else, our revenues were slightly affected downward. And so in this tough economic time, we need to look around and say, 'we're going to invest our way through this, we're going to emerge stronger on the remote end, but we're going to manage our cash flow and profitability along the way,' that is, things that are in our control. I can't control when the macroeconomic marker's going to improve, but I can control who we manage our expenses, improve our profitability, and keep close to our customers.

I think the two key points made are to invest your way through and keep close to your customers. Not saying to throw money at everyone and everything. More like invest in Asterisk and freeSWITCH education for your developers, participate in conferences where you can get close to suppliers and customers, and cut out some of the red tape so you can get closer to your customers

One more compliment to Greg: I liked his choice of language in stating that "Pullen maintains an optimistic tenor and is proud that Tellabs has continued to increase its margins, expanding from 34 to 42 percent annually."

Optimistic tenor... I like it.

Carl Ford is great about updating us all on what to look forward to in the 4G Wireless Evolution scheduled for Sept 1-3, 2009. He has my absolute agreement on this intro statement: "It seems the mobile consumer can not get enough of their share of mobile applications... "

In fact, he goes on to say, "The iPhone store, Android store and similar initiatives from Nokia and RIM suggest power is shifting away from the operators and into the hands of application developers and the end user."

Half of the updates I read from those who I am following on Twitter are about mobile and mobile-related conferences, applications, equipment, services, and peripherals. Jeb Brilliant, a guy who I think does a great job identifying any kind of business potential in anything, is just one of them, and is avid on the latest in mobile anything.

In October 2008, I posted a comparison of mobile voip applications created by a very good friend that has received more hits than any other on my own personal/company blog.

In addition, most of those that I interview at conferences around the globe as press agent or media partner at Gitex, CommunicAsia, CEATEC, CeBIT, ITEXPO, 4G Wireless Evolution, SUPERCOMM, ITU Telecom World, IIT VoIP, CTIA Wireless, Cluecon, and Astricon, approach the top that the power and direction of IT anything is more and more in the power of the actual user. Why is this? Most common answer is online social media. So... looks like a smart move to register for the event!

Early Bird pricing is in effect until July 17th for 4G Wireless Evolution and will provide for savings of up to $300 off single person passes and up to $1,000 off of group registrations.

Keep in mind that 4G Wireless Evolution is collocated with IT West 2009 in Los Angeles from Sept 1-3, 2009. And for those who cannot get enough 4G power, check out also the 4G World Conference scheduled for Sept 15-18, 2009 in Chicago, and CTIA Wireless IT & Entertainment scheduled for Oct 6-9, 2009 in San Diego.

I'll be at all three. Why? It is more productive to fly to conferences where so many of the people you want to learn from and/or do business with ... will be, than to squeeze all those calls, emails and more into your work days. You and I can still use our cell phone or netbook to email, IM, voip call, point DIDs and more and keep working while at the conference as needed.
