Four Ways Cable Operators Can Boost the Customer Experience

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Contributor

The customer experience has always mattered, but its importance has grown in recent years. This has been driven by increased global competition, including the almost instant availability of alternations, and the rising expectations by fickle and informed consumer. Yet, cable operators have a long way to travel if they want to deliver the customer experience (CX) that consumers demand.

The Temkin Group’s Q3 2014 survey of 10,000 US consumers’ opinions about goods and services registered the lowest ranking average Net Promoter Score (NPS) for pay TV providers, a telling statistic. Internet service providers did almost as poorly, coming in only one position higher.

“As technology innovations drive shifts in consumer behavior and open new service opportunities, operators must start eliminating pain points,” stressed Alcatel-Lucent’s Nicholas Cadwgan in a recent TechZine article, Cable MSOs transform the customer experience. “This includes any obstacles that will impede their ability to launch and provide adequate care and quality assurance for those services.”

Cadwgan lays out four customer experience management (CEM) areas that cable operators should focus on.

Word Association Led me to 17 Year Old VoIP Singer and Entrepreneur

May 6, 2010

Something I enjoy doing ever since I heard Ray Bradbury talk about it on a documentary is word association. This morning, I typed in "art" and "voip" on Google and also Yahoo! search. I clicked on the first item of interest on VoIP-info and found it was actually a spam, nothing to do with VoIP.

Next, I found a 2005 VoIP Monitor article with the title "Aspiring Teen Pop Singer Launches Own VOIP Service." Intriguing!

The article states that in 2005, there were approximately 11,000 + VoIP providers but definitely room for a new kid on the block.

Awesome Announcement Omega Telecom and The Flat Planet Group

April 26, 2010

Congratulations to our dear industry friends David Uzan of Omega Telecom and Moshe Maeir of The Flat Planet and a Phone.

The Flat Planet Group, the company who can set up a phone system in a matter of minutes, and an example of this is Yahoo! stores, has announced it closed an agreement to buy Omega Telecom a licensed telecommunications carrier based in Cyprus.

In the past few years The Flat Planet Group acquired several call centers in Cyprus. This helped the company to become familiar with the local telecom market. The kinds of services that The Flat Planet Group was providing include local DID phone numbers in 50 countries with Dynamic Caller ID.

Shower April with Some IP Communications Events Please

April 14, 2010

For some reason, March, May and October are slam-packed full in the East and West with IP communications-related conferences; whereas, April, July, August, and December are almost empty. The company who pays me once per month is Super Technologies (a mult-national group with multi-national vendors and customers in the IP communications, social networking, medical and media spaces), and either DIDXchange is a supporting organization sponsor or media partner OR our Techistan is a press/media partner at some the most inspiring conferences in both areas of the world.

So, let me share with you a few in the East during April 2010, a slow month for the West. Believe me, if you have a cell phone or device that lets you insert a SIM card, you'll stay connected more cheaply than in the West.

COMNET'10 and IT EXPO is scheduled April 16-17, 2010 in Karachi, Pakistan at the Usman Institute of Technology. I've been to Pakistan many times and to Usman IT a few times. It's a colorful nation of women in beautiful sparkly shalwar kameez, entrepreneurs on every street, traffic that is somewhat like an ad hoc ballet where everyone seems to know how to move perfectly. The last time I was in Pakistan, I took a train ride from Karachi to Islamabad and visited in between Multan, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Lahore and many smaller cities and villages to meet with every wiress/mobile operator and PSTN carrier I could.

Bring the Best of the West to CommunicAsia Conference: You!

April 13, 2010

Over 4000 businesses and entrepreneurs have registered for CommunicAsia scheduled for June 15-18, 2010: Asia Broadcast Satellite, Accenture, BlackBerry, Comba Telecom, Consistel, Dialogic (also a respected member of the TMC community and sponsor, exhibitor, presenter, innovator at ITEXPO events), Emerson Network, Eutelsat, Harmonic, Huawei, Inmarsat, Intelsat, JDSU, MEASAT, DIDXchange, RAD Data Communications, Samsung Electronics, SES WORLD SKIES, Skype Technologies, ST Teleport, THAICOM, Telekom Malaysia, Yahoo!, ZTE, Techistan.

We're seeing more participation from the Western Hemisphere each year at CommunicAsia and other conferences in the East. More collaborations between the big names as mentioned in the first paragraph and more like your company in the East and West, mean global business triumph!

CommunicAsia is truly one of my favorite IP communications/entertainment/broadcast/ICT event in the East. Last year we gained many new relationships to sponsor other conferences in Asia, new DID phone numbers areas for sale on DIDX, and hundreds of leads of entrepreneurs, inventors, enterprises, technologies to fill our Techistan for years.

Check the Site Map here http://www.mktg-ses.com/Email/CMMA10/index.html and invite others to this pre-networking area and to register and participate as exhibitor, sponsor, or presenter before the deadline.

CommunicAsia advertises in TMC's Internet Telephony magazine, a very smart choice. Will we see any of the TMC team at CommunicAsia this year?
