Sharing Geek to Teacher and Teacher to Geek Email Discussion

June 14, 2010

From a popular blogger and IP communications and technologies product reviewer
Date: June 14, 2010

Suzanne,
English teacher and Technology - that is an interesting combination!! Guess we have something in common there, I will be a geek turned teacher and you are a teacher turned geek :-)

I completely agree with you that there is a market for everything. However, the problem is information asymmetry.

New Nettalk DUO Device Connects to Router or Computer

July 14, 2010

The DUO carries on the capability of being the only device in the world flexible enough to connect directly to your router's internet connection OR through your computer?

Techistan reports on it and will soon offer a product review. Nettalk offers unlimited outgoing calls to USA and Canada  at $69.95 the first year including the DUO device. The second year is $29.95 ...

That breaks down to $2.50 per month for free nationwide calling throughout the USA and Canada plus all of our other calling features without monthly phone bills and contracts.

Why would anyone want to use a "home phone" or a "business phone" that is not a cell phone or on a PBX like this? There are millions.

MagicJack versus Nettalk, They Have Zero Competition, Only Each Other

July 22, 2010

I am excited! A third party is buying  MagicJack and Nettalk services for me and others in Pensacola, Florida, USA area to do a comparative review. They are competitors, big time! Nothing else compares to either one.

Let me know any particular particulars you think I should compare and contrast. I am feeling very neutral. I should get both devices and services started at my home within a month. I will report on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin and will compile it here and on Techistan magazine.

A Song for Unified Communications

May 14, 2011

Okay, so you could call it a Somewhere over the Rainbow spoof, but I was playing around with writing lyrics for different companies' marketing and advertising projects including our own (Super Technologies, DIDX, Techistan, etc.) and a friend of mine Jamesopera said he would sing this one.

You'll also see guys and gals from different companies in the video who have something to do with Unified Communications ... which is the topic of this video: Avaya, TMC, D2 Technologies, Inc., Paetec, Telefonica, Comtel-Networks, Nokia, Shoretel, Turktel, Phone.com, Iotum Corporation, Cisco, fring, Siemens, Mitel, IceWarp, Radvision, etc.

Here are the lyrics:

Anywhere throughout the Internet
Way out there
Lie the goals that you made up
Once in a first class seat (a few sheets to the wind in the Cloud)

Everywhere despite lack of spectrum
Videos, voice, and text stream seamlessly
Over every device that you wished for
Text could even be converted to VM ...

Picture is from 2600 Hertz Pproject Team.p

Almost every morning between 4 and 6 AM, I read, listen and watch GigaOm, TechCrunch, TMC, RCR Wireless and Voip, Geekspeak.org, and various blogs and video channels. After reading a post by Stacey Higginbotham at GigaOm, I asked entrepeneur and business owner Darren Schreiber to let me record a talk with him that I could share with the public online. He is co-founder and CEO of 2600 Hertz.

Podcast to listen to: 2600hz.mp3

Applications Today Do Not Work in Isolation Says Venky

July 14, 2011

How do we best meet people and organizations online and in person to do business with? As my readership and networks know, my favorite ways are via social networking sites and face to face conferences, exhibitions, and meet-ups. I was desperately searching via Twitter, Linkedin and Facebook for as many people as possible who were participating in CommunicAsia 2011 because once I arrived in Singapore, I wanted a full agenda of promising opportunities. One of the first to reply was Venky from Plivo which resulted in plans to record an audio interview for you to eavesdrop on podcast.

CommunicAsia was great except for one unfortunately embarrassing incident in the press lounge, but I've got enough integrity ...

Wall Concerts and Mobile Wallets are Things that Use DID

August 16, 2011

Just when we think the phone number (via direct inward dialing) is dead, gone, out of here, in comes really cool uses such as the wall concerts at Bloc Jam (which my friend Michel Vaillancourt at JKL 5 Group told me about) and mobile payments over DID via Paytoo mobile wallet beginning November 2010 with millions of users around the world. In this case, BlocJam is a musical improvisation game played via direct inward dialing, live from the street. When you call, you are given a sequence to compose your beats.

Once you have played around and created your composition, press the pound sign on your cell phone and there you go.
