Telnyx Dave Casem Interview - Democratizing the PSTN, Be Your Own Carrier

April 27, 2017

Telnyx is a key sponsor for OpenSIPs Summit May 2-5 in Amsterdam. I remember what a great job Telnyx did in its sponsorship for Cluecon and ITEXPO. Their business strategy comes across as uncontrived, focused and interesting.

David Casem, their CEO and Co-Founder, shares insight on industry buzz terms like BYOC and UCaaS for 2017, how Telnyx fits in, what their Mission Control Panel and API enables, what is important in regards to SIP trunking and direct inward dialing, and how they make decisions in regards to which events like ITEXPO and OpenSIPs Summit to participate.

Communications Tech Development = Code + Human Resources > Enter OpenSIPs Summit 2017 Amsterdam

March 22, 2017

A big difference between a successful communications technology corporation, startup or project and a flop is the development of the solution behind it all. Development = code + human resources. OpenSIPs offers all three to assist you with your current human resources or to hire new and the code that works, that adds new and improved features as innovative developers provide.

Why you would give up the chance to strut around in Middle Earth Barbie wear? Allison Smith asks.

#Thankful! What for? Being able to speak...well, not as well as Allison Smith. Being able to design software and apps with code, not as well as Mark Spencer or Floris de Vries.

Greg Giagnocavo from the Classroom to Communications over Internet Innovation

December 11, 2012

ITEXPO East and West are events that not only place us amongst scores of productive business and technical development opportunities, but they also introduce us to some of the most inspiring technology and communications entrepreneurs and thought leaders. For example, does anyone remember Classroom Connect in 1994, a really cool educational startup with a website? I do. I was a teacher, and I discovered their website after I bought a Tandy computer, a phone line, and a dialup Internet account that year for my 8th grade English and Gifted Studies classroom.

Wholesale Telecom Prices as Volatile as Gas - VoIP Innovations President Podcast

September 21, 2012

Since the days when DIDX became an Inc.com 500 | 5000 application partner, I've been an avid fan of the wise magazine and the highly coveted awards program. I especially browse the annual winners for companies that I know personally or that I want to meet. 2012 list is out, and guess who's on it in place number 744 out of 5000? VoIP Innovations!

VoIP Facebook Page Request Leads to Xorcom SIP Phone Talk

September 4, 2012

The Teachers' Lounge is a place I never hung out in when I taught English to 8th graders for 15 or so years. I'm not tight with the people who like to talk IP communications International Enquirer gossip, but I do pay attention to knowledge and experience that coders, evangelists, early adopters and potential customers of open source telephony, VoIP and such ... post that they want and that they have.

Not long ago, Olle Johansson of Edvina AB updated one of the most versatile and useful VoIP groups on Facebook with this comment, "I just noticed that Xorcom have released SIP phones. Any experiences in this group?

Wall Concerts and Mobile Wallets are Things that Use DID

August 16, 2011

Just when we think the phone number (via direct inward dialing) is dead, gone, out of here, in comes really cool uses such as the wall concerts at Bloc Jam (which my friend Michel Vaillancourt at JKL 5 Group told me about) and mobile payments over DID via Paytoo mobile wallet beginning November 2010 with millions of users around the world. In this case, BlocJam is a musical improvisation game played via direct inward dialing, live from the street. When you call, you are given a sequence to compose your beats.

Once you have played around and created your composition, press the pound sign on your cell phone and there you go.

Applications Today Do Not Work in Isolation Says Venky

July 14, 2011

How do we best meet people and organizations online and in person to do business with? As my readership and networks know, my favorite ways are via social networking sites and face to face conferences, exhibitions, and meet-ups. I was desperately searching via Twitter, Linkedin and Facebook for as many people as possible who were participating in CommunicAsia 2011 because once I arrived in Singapore, I wanted a full agenda of promising opportunities. One of the first to reply was Venky from Plivo which resulted in plans to record an audio interview for you to eavesdrop on podcast.

CommunicAsia was great except for one unfortunately embarrassing incident in the press lounge, but I've got enough integrity ...
