Mendocino County Selects ALU

Mendocino County is a California county that encompasses an area of more than 2 million acres or approximately 3,500 square miles. The County was looking for an advanced public safety solution, and it selected Alcatel-Lucent to deploy a solution that will enhance network interoperability and emergency response with more reliable and secure communications across multiple agencies within the county.

The new network enables Mendocino County to manage its public safety network from a single platform.

According to Kristin McMenomey, General Services Agency Director for Mendocino County, "Our goal was to create a network capable of converging traditional mission-critical telecom traffic with the county's data traffic not only to meet our needs today, but also to pave the way for new IP applications in the future."

The deployment is based on Alcatel-Lucent's MDR 8000 long-haul microwave solution. Alcatel-Lucent also is deploying its IP/MPLS portfolio, which includes the Alcatel-Lucent 7450 Ethernet Service Switch, Alcatel-Lucent 7250 Service Access Switch and Alcatel-Lucent 5620 Service Aware Manager. The company is also providing full turnkey services, such as project management, installation, maintenance, integration, testing, consulting and support services.
