Seth Godin released a free e-book titled What Matters Now. It is a collection of thoughts from many folks. Rich and I didn't get tagged to submit, but I'm following Seth's advice to add my thoughts here.
Seth begins by writing:
"When the economy tanks, it's natural to think of yourself first. You have a family to feed, a mortgage to pay. Getting more appears to be the order of business.... It turns out that the connected economy doesn't respect this natural instinct. Instead, we're rewarded for being generous. Generous with our time and money but most important generous with our art."
The book, The Secret, was about the Law of Attraction. You attract what you need. You are what you think about. Simple rules that work.
My mother says that if you are in a sales slump, write a check to charity, slump gone. Because you get more than you give. Be generous.
It's been a difficult year for all. Charities need your help - even if it is $10. Give because for what it will do and for how it will make you feel. (Don't have the $10, give them 1 hour of your time then).
This has been a good year for telecom - VoIP, Cloud, Data Centers, Apps, handsets. Get ready to run hard in 2010 because it's going to be off the chains. Happy Holidays!
