LANTelligence's CEO on Channel and Contact Center

June 30, 2017

After a short conversation with Martin Tracey, CEO of Unified Communications Solutions Provider, LANtelligence, we decided to do an interview to share some of the points we were discussing.

RAD: The Telecommunications/UC space is changing. It is a lot different than when we both got in during the heyday of the 90s. How will these changes affect channel partners?

The Fight to Make a Living in Cloud

January 17, 2017

How many articles and keynotes have been about how channel partners aren't jumping into cloud? I find it funny that it is mainly vendors and "consultants" saying this. It's Microsoft. It's every booth at CP Expo. It is the channel magazines (like here) and the channel consultants.

Sales KPIs

November 23, 2016

If you manage a sales team, direct or indirect, do you have any key performance indicators that you track?

Usually the only KPI we look at is Quota.

Yet we know that daily activity is the most important factor for success. That includes number of contacts per day via email, social media, phone calls.

UCaaS Round-Up (Tidbits 2443)

November 16, 2016

Nextiva, a Broadsoft powered ITSP, announced at their user conference that it has released a new UC&C or Workplace Comms platform that they created internally named NextOS. Nextiva has 100K SMB customers. It is surprising that they didn't make an SD-WAN announcement, similar to Vonage Biz's SmartWAN or TelePacific's UC-X with SD-WAN options.

When asked if this wasn't just a wrapper around Broadsoft's UC-One or other packages, Nextiva replied, "NextOS was completely imagined and developed in-house."

Are You Managing Hours or Outcomes?

Another consultant is having a trying experience with a client. The client wants to see the consultant in the office more, but not pay for it. It seems that the client is used to buying hours, not outcomes.

I have run into quite a few companies that have never hired a consultant before.

The VoIP/UC Round Up # 2920

August 16, 2015

MetTel's Gary Gluzman has a 2-part look at UC. He mentions Glip and Slack, which are taking off, but I think that much of the new app collective - WhatsApp, snapchat, even Slack - are just replacements for AOL chat - and honestly have not added much to the equation.

I recently explored how one client company used Slack. Everyone liked it; however, it didn't really work.

News Tidbits Part 2919

Windstream joins the likes of TelePacific, the old Airband (now UNSi) and numerous WISPs in offering Fixed Wireless. "Windstream's Fixed Wireless is a technology solution for carrier-grade Ethernet and Internet-over-Ethernet connectivity delivered by digital microwave technology, and is currently offered in Chicago, Ill., New York, N.Y., Northern New Jersey, N.J., and Milwaukee, Wis." [source]

Windstream is in battle at the FCC to get IP equivalent wholesale products from AT&T as TDM retires. It is not going well.
