Four Steps to Belgian Fries and Better Sales

March 30, 2009

If you read this last week, you know that Broadvox was at the TAG National Convention. Working the event did interrupt my blog. This week I am at VoiceCon and I promised not to let the blog be interrupted. I will do my best.

2009 TAG National Convention...

March 27, 2009

I have been very busy this week working the convention for TAG (Technology Assurance Group). The usual activity was around booth duty, which can be interesting at times, but the best part of the three days was listening to the keynote speakers. Granted these were not IP Communications Industry experts but they were experts in their fields. Dave Hibbard offered some excellent advice on improving the successfulness of your field sales organization.

Super Borscht and SUPERCOMM...

March 23, 2009

The weekend for food was fantastic. In fact, I thought I had today's recipe Saturday morning. I made my version of French Toast and thought it worthy of sharing with you. To date, I have not included a breakfast recipe and it seemed a good time to do so.

Selling SIP Trunking Online...

March 20, 2009

It's Friday and today I am to tell you what I know about selling SIP Trunking on the Web. My answer is "I don't know enough yet." Yeah, I know, you waited two days to learn I haven't reached a conclusion. That is not to say, I haven't narrowed down my choices. Selling on the web requires a multipronged approach. You must do the following:

Online Advertising of SIP

March 18, 2009

While most of my blogs have been on IP communications (VoIP/SIP), I have been working on determining the best ways to spend our precious marketing dollars for this year. The challenge given to me has been to spend the bulk of those dollars on web advertising campaigns. At first it seemed simple, a banner ad here and there, a few tiles and perhaps even one of those dreaded interrupting splash pages. However, as I have studied the statistics, it is clear none of these activities may result in the behavior I want...

Cook, Plumb, Prepare Veal Marsala and Tax Advice

March 16, 2009

It is hard to describe the life of a true foodie. Food consumes us.

Hummmm...okay we consume it. But, we continually pursue a new experience with it.

The Future is When?

March 13, 2009

I was traveling overseas about two years ago and took a picture of a number of payphones that sat unused. At the time, I wondered how much longer they would exist given the growing penetration of cell phones. This photo is of a bank of 14 phones all sitting unused. So, the question is, "Are we in the future now based upon the photo?"

VoIP and FoIP

March 11, 2009

Without fail every time I present to an audience I am confronted with the question, "How do you handle Faxing?" Faxing is the bane of IP Communications. Industry numbers indicate a one-page fax failure rate of around 80% with multiple page faxes failing more often. At Broadvox, we have worked hard to improve upon the numbers. We are better than 80% successful delivery of multiple page faxes.

Roasted Beets and Net Neutrality are on the Menu

March 9, 2009

Interesting weekend for food. I went into Saturday with no ideas on what to eat. However, my wife had this roasted beet salad she wanted me to make and after a bit of grumbling I agreed to do so.  Why the grumbling?

Conundrum or Kundra

March 6, 2009

Vivek Kundra has been named as President Obama's CIO. He is the former CTO of the District of Columbia and Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Technology for Virginia. He looks like someone who has interacted with Washington a fair bit. I don't know if that is good or bad and I'm from Virginia.

Genachowski and COMPTEL

March 4, 2009

Well what has been speculated for weeks has finally become official, long time Obama friend and advisor, Julius Genachowski, has been nominated to head the FCC.

"He will bring to the job diverse and unparalleled experience in communications and technology, "said President Obama.

Perhaps on Friday, we can review some of the pressing issues facing the FCC and those that are important to the IP Community, Broadvox and other ITSPs.

The Irish lose but Vegas Wins!

March 2, 2009

What a weekend for food. Now I promised the Salmon with Vodka Cream Sauce and Fettuccine recipe. So, that is the recipe for the day. However, my wife, Gay, and I had another great meal that I developed as the day progressed.
