FCC 700 MHz Spectrum Auction Update: 99 Rounds and Trickling In

The FCC 700 Mhz wireless spectrum auctions have now amassed 99 rounds of bidding.

Thus far, total bids are above $19.5 billion.

OK, for those of you who want to know the actual amount for spectrum bidding so far, it is: $19,516,022,500.

If you sense a slowdown in bid amounts, your sense is correct.

In their daily email update this Friday morning, Faulkner Information Services notes that in the 99th round, just $1,721,200 was bid. For the week, the total amunt of new bids were only a bit more than $45 million.

The 100th round starts this morning. The bidding process will officially close when a round is conducted with no bids received.
