FCC Approves AT&T-BellSouth Deal
December 29, 2006
Just over the wires: the FCC has approved the $85 billion BellSouth merger with AT&T by a 4-0 vote. Republican Commissioner Robert McDowell abstained.
The vote was electronic, rather than in a formal session. It took place after the FCC's two Democratic Commissioners were satisfied with the AT&Ts promises of net neutrality adherence, lower rate choices in DSL access plans and wireless franchise divestment.
We'll have a lot more of this after the Holidays.
Meanwhile, Happy New Year!
