U.S. Regulators Approve Google-DoubleClick; Europe Regulators Are Next

December 20, 2007
Late Thursday, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) approved Google's $3.1 billion purchase of online advertising tpols and services giant DoubleClick, Inc.

The FTC did this despite heavy lobbying against the deal by Google competitors AT&T and yes, Microsoft.

Yes, but the FTC's nod doesn't mean the deal is set in stone. Google says it won't start integrating DoubleClock into its operations until the European Commission gives its nod. The EU is widely expected to rule by April 2, 2008.T

Once-and if- all the regulatory hurdles are overcome, Google is expected to quickly act to integrate its online text ads with DoubleClick's online market-leading advertisement placement and tracking tools.
