Online gambling ring busted: and you won't believe the lucky break

Some online businesses of questionable legality have their stealth thing down and are able to cover their assets.

Others, such as Playwithal.com, apparently are not.

Yesterday, New York state prosecutors charged 27 people in using the site to coordinate an illegal, billion-dollar-ayear-gambling ring.  The ring allegedly involved 2,000 bookies.

Get this. The Associated Press reports that investigators got their major break when they managed to hack into a laptop computer that accused ringleader James Giordano had left in his Long Island, N.Y. hotel room when he was off attending a wedding.

During that time, investigators armed with a warrant entered Giordano's hotel room, found the laptop and made a digital copy of the hard drive without Giorando's knowledge.

James, if you had to do it all over again...
