Senate gives FCC head Kevin Martin five more years
November 17, 2006
Late last night the lameduck GOP-controlled U.S. Senate confirmed Federal Communications Chair Kevin Martin to serve a full five-year term as the head of the FCC.
The vote, which was not immediately available, will, of course, extend Martin's term beyond the remaining tenure of President Bush and even into a Democrat administration should one occur.
An FCC Commissioner since 2001, Martin assumed his current post in March 2005 upon the resignation of his predecessor, Michael Powell.
