What's Relevant?

In writing a blog, I want to share what I experience in the industry and provide a little bit of clarity on subjects that, well, need a bit of clarity. It seems that IP Communications has more various avenues of discussion than are pertinent to Broadvox but are relevant to the industry as a whole. For example, does Broadvox care which network equipment provider Verizon chooses for LTE? I haven't had a chance to run it by Andre, our CEO, so I have to decide on my own. We certainly care about the standard. We certainly care about the rollout timeframes which are impacted by the delay in converting TV to digital (look it up). Verizon has decided not use a leading candidate for their LTE deployment, Nortel. This is considered both surprising and obvious after all it was leaving out a technology leader filing for Chapter 11. Not the best bet for a long-term partner. So is it relevant to the SIP Trunking business ecosystem?

Since I am blogging about it, I think yes. When I began this adventure, I was intending to stay focused on SIP Trunking and ITSPs. However, it is clear, there are too many things influencing the direction of the industry to limit it to such a narrow area. The future of the carrier side of IP Communications is tied to the growth of wireless IP. LTE and the relevant standards impact and define that growth.

When I entered this industry in 1981, I participated in the development of competition for long distance, the original Advanced Intelligent Network and SS7 and, later, the early forays into how to use and make money with the Internet (check out my bio). Today, I am excited as heck about being with an ITSP positioned to have an impact in the direction of the next thing in telecom, IP communications.

Stay tuned...Monday will have another recipe. I don't know what yet. I need to go to store to see what looks interesting. Also, a comment or two from the readers asking for a recipe would be helpful.

No matter what you can expect a new recipe and a discussion of something relevant to the IP communications ecosystem.
