Ingredients:
- 3 strips bacon, diced
- 1 shallot sliced thinly
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 small head cabbage, coarsely shredded
- ½ cup apple juice
- ½ cup chicken broth
- ¼ cup white wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- ½ teaspoon dried dill
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground pepper
Directions
Split and core the cabbage and then shred or coarsely cut into ⅛ to ¼ inch strips.
Placed diced bacon in a large saucepan and heat to medium heat. When the bacon is crispy add the shallots and garlic; cook for 1 minute. Add all of the remaining ingredients and toss well. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes, until tender. Serve with pan drippings.
Serves 4 to 6.
