Today marks the first day of VON here in Boston. As always, I'm looking forward to spending the week listening, learning and sharing about our industry.
As I spend most of my time working with companies that build enterprise applications, an area I'm planning on paying particular attention to is SIP Trunking. Using SIP to connect enterprise application to the outside world is getting a lot of attention from a pretty wide range of end-customers. But I worry that we have not yet figured out all the security and deployment issues. When I talk to the carriers, all they think about is their network security, not the enterprise customer's network. They also seem to be bent on "one carrier" solutions that eliminate much of the choice that enterprises enjoy with today's TDM network.
I'll be listening carefully this week and sharing some of these thoughts on the topic during my speaking session:
Wednesday, October 31st, 3:00pm - 4:00pm
VON Show Theater.
Title: “Patrolling the Network Border”
The network is under attack! When you look at the Internet, malicious activities are increasing. Viruses, spoofs. fraud, and DoS attacks being done by hackers and phreakers.
How do session controllers manage these issues?
