Video Calling Going Prime Time
Visual communication is different in different markets, with the consumers being the "late entrants" in this case. While this might be true while we're still in the early adoption stages of this technology/service, it is probably about to change in 2009. Living here in Israel, hasn't exposed me to any videophone ad on TV, but there have been a few in the US which were targeted directly at consumers. Can Telepresence Replace Face-to-Face Meetings?
No. Not all of them. It's not that I don't believe in visual communications. After all, I am writing a Talking Video blog here. I just don't like the over-hyping our industry is going through with the economy downturn. Yes - companies are reducing flights. Yes - they can gain from doing video calls instead. No - it is not a replacement for face to face meetings. Oh - and no - Cisco is not threatening the airline business. Full Story
