Here's a shocking bit of news: Online advertisers are "planning new advertising methods created specifically for iPad applications."

Who woulda thunk it? Why, they already have "major companies" signed on and are "seeking to promote their goods and services to customers on Apple's forthcoming device," according to AppleInsider's Sam Oliver.

ClickZ said mobile ad platform AdMarvel "has teamed with Gannett-owned rich media ad firm PointRoll to enable expandable and highly-interactive ads on the iPad.

As BtoB Magazine said, "The iPad Advertising Platform is designed to source ads from ad networks and includes campaign management, targeting and forecasting capabilities, according to AdMarvel. Other features include click-to-contact, click-to-maps, click-to-app and click-to-video actions."

The Transportation Security Administration is considering installing devices in airports that detect personal electronic equipment for the purpose of tracking "how long people are stuck in security lines."

USA Today reported "information about wait times could then be posted on websites and in airports across the country."

"This technology will produce valuable data that can be used in a variety of ways," TSA spokeswoman Lauren Gaches said, noting it could help prevent checkpoint snarls.

How, may we ask, would it accomplish this? What would they do, rush more screening officers from coffee breaks to the slower areas? Riiiight, that'll happen.

Dell has announced a "new series of servers," designed for "large cloud computing environments."

According to Reuters, the company says "features of its new PowerEdge C-series servers were inspired by its Data Center Solutions business" -- where it sells servers to very large cloud computing infrastructure customers - "but were targeted at a range of buyers regardless of their market size."

An article on ChannelWeb said the idea behind the move, according to Dell officials, is "to deliver turnkey cloud products and start 'taking the guesswork out' of cloud computing."

Dell's C-series servers are for your heavy-duty cloud computing ecosystems, such as Web service providers, Facebook, those who need lots of juice.

Or as PCWorld notes, "Dell hopes to grab a bigger slice of the cloud infrastructure market."

Does staying in compliance with all of the federal, state and calling regulations make it a challenge to effectively manage your calling campaigns? If you answered "We never worry about that stuff, nah, it's not a problem at all," you might want to get your feet off the desk and look into just how many laws you're probably breaking.

Lead management software provider VanillaSoft is offering a product billed as not only improving your agent's performance, but also helping your organization stay in compliance.

The vendor has partnered with Call Compliance to sell Teleblock's DNC scrubbing service on-demand.

What this means, is each call, prior to being routed to an agent, "is checked against federal and state Do Not Call lists. If the name appears on the list, the call will be blocked from the agents, ensuring that you remain in compliance," VanillaSoft officials say.

Verint Systems has announced enhancements to its Impact 360 Workforce Management or workforce optimization software from Verint Witness Actionable Solutions.

Company officials said the new capabilities let contact centers "create more flexible scheduling options, monitor back-office work activities, manage backlog and model forecasts to meet service levels and processing deadlines."

The software helps enable global requirements for Time Banking and Time Off Accrual management, adding new capabilities and flexibility to the forecasting and scheduling of staff.

For example, the product allows modeling and tracking of "annualized hour banks" mandated in employee contracts by government labor laws, combined with the ability in Impact 360 Strategic Planner to optimize schedules, overtime, hours per week, vacation, training, hiring and even attrition over annual periods.
