Movie channel Epix hits the news, signing a carriage agreement with Dish Network that will "give Epix nationwide U.S. distribution for the first time, marking a breakthrough in its efforts to reach more viewers."

According to Business Week, Dish is the second- largest U.S. satellite TV service.

According to Reuters, this makes Epix, a joint venture between Lions Gate Entertainment, Viacom's Paramount Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer "available to 14 million additional customers across the United States."

Recently, at CTIA 2010, TMC's Carl Ford had a chance to interview Stefan Lindvall, president of Connected Development, a relatively new company founded last year.

Ford noted that Connected Development helped, "from the cradle to the grave" with building M2M products. "We founded our company to be a viable force in the industry," Lindvall said, to help new providers entering the market with advice, design and testing services, as well as certification services.

"We believe that we can help customers truly manage their projects," he said, "from a timing and cost standpoint."

Ford noted that the market is "very active" with M2M products now, with lots of people looking for help, so "you have this interesting opportunity now to support development of different verticals," asking Lindvall if there were any particular verticals the company was focusing on.

Recently, TMC's Stefania Viscusi held a podcast session with Paul Wiggins, convergence technology manager at Tone Software, a provider of network monitoring and management products for converged telecommunications and IP infrastructures.

She asked Wiggins how does Tone's proactive quality management help ensure that performance goals are met?

Wiggins answered that this type of in-depth management of the type Tone offers is "a big piece of ensuring service levels."

When quality issues arise, service technicians need a deep set of metrics, he noted, "so that they can expedite remediation."
