Some well-known Internet addresses will be on the auction block this month at DOMAINfest--a live domain auction held in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on May 13th and sponsored by Moniker.com.

No, moniker.com is not for sale. But if you want to start at opening bids of $1 million you can bid on the likes of Wifi.com or Jeans.com. The auction will continue online through May 20.

DomainSponsor, which bills itself "the domain monetization business of Oversee.net," and organizer of the DOMAINfest series of conferences, will expand the agenda at its May 13, 2010 Fort Lauderdale event to include Jay Berkowitz, CEO of TenGoldenRules.com, as keynoter.

If Safety.com and CommunityCollege.com are a bit rich for your blood at a minimum bid of $1 million, bidding for Code.com starts at $750,000, and at just half a million bucks for Karate.com and SingleWomen.com, among others.

Still too much? If you know what to do with Detox.com or TreasuryBonds.com you can start the bidding at $100,000, and at $50,000 for Troops.com, Counselors.com or DatingOnline.com.

As it examines the potential of various vertical markets, xG Technology will be looking at the security industry, company officials said recently.

"Wireless alarms are a segment of the industry with dramatic growth potential.  The industry relies on secure, reliable technology and that is what xG offers," said Lou Fiore, a member of xG's Advisory Board and long-time alarm industry expert.

Wireless alarms offer ease of installation and greater reliability according to the research firm IMS Research. In Europe alone, wireless alarm modules are expected to increase from 2.3 million in 2009 to 22 million in 2014, estimates Berg Insights, studies cited by xG officials.

Fiore is a past president of the Central Station Alarm Association and President of L.T. Fiore, Inc. In 1999, he was appointed by President Clinton to serve in the "America Burning" panel.

Another member of the xG Advisory Board, Ben Dickens, is a named partner in the Washington law firm Blooston, Mordkofsky, Dickens, Duffy & Prendergast, and is General Counsel to the Central Station Alarm Association, a national trade association of burglar and fire alarm companies.

VoIPSwitch officials are touting their IP IVR module as having the ability to, "extend VoipSwitch to the whole set of services that use voice interaction with users."

The IP IVR version for calling cards services is sold separately as a module, while the IP IVR for other services is the part of the main package Voipswitch platform.

Company officials say, the "main scenarios in which IP IVR can play a main role" include two stage dialing calling cards (PIN or Caller ID/ANI authorization), one stage dialing with IVR (PIN or Caller ID/ANI authorization), voicemail, PBX (News - Alert) auto attendant and callback.

The IVR is very often used in services like broadband phone calling, offering such functionality as max call duration announcement, actual balance information, last minute (or any other defined period) before the call end warning, recharge by PIN or support number and others.

The IP IVR can be used with any VoIP equipment that is compatible with SIP or H323 protocol, company officials say, adding that it supports DIDs (SIP or H323 trunks). "Thus," they say, "the access number for example for calling cards can be implemented by using DIDs rented from a provider, instead of owning a PSTN gateway."

Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden has filed suit against two vehicle service contract sellers, according to The Examiner:

"The lawsuits are against U.S. Fidelis and Credexx which have used direct mail postcards and auto-dialers to market auto service contracts in Idaho."

The suit, according to The Examiner, alleges that U.S. Fidelis "misrepresented to consumers  the coverage of the contracts and misled them into believing the contracts were extensions of their manufacturer's warranties," and that Credexx "sent direct mail advertising to Idahoans falsely claiming that their consumer's auto warranties had expired or were about to expire," offering renewal services.

So where does auto-dialing come in? Wasden alleges that they both violated Idaho's telephone solicitation statutes and rules.  The point may be academic however, as both companies have stopped doing business and U.S. Fidelis has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Missouri.

These days, companies are being forced to work more efficiently and do more with less. That includes buying furniture for agents, supervisors, or administrative employees.

A useful Interior Concepts white paper offers tips to consider when making your furniture purchase. Some highlights:

--Look for a furniture company that is experienced in contact centers. This means seeking a partnership with a company that will allow you to work with the same group of people regardless of your center's location. This can best be accomplished through a direct relationship with the furniture manufacturer -- if they provide this type of service.

--Get the very best use of space by maximizing all available square footage. Right - so how can furniture design impact the bottom line when leasing or building space? The customer either directly or indirectly pays for every square foot of space that they use. Conversely, this means that every square foot of space not being used is money being expended, which can never be recovered.
