President Tim Cook?

Last December we analyzed 28 CEOs that could potentially become the next president of the United States. At the time, Mark Zuckerberg was rumored to be considering a run. This past May in fact it was discovered there is a PAC looking to draft him into considering it.

Tim Cook just had an interview with BusinessWeek and as Gizmodo noticed, some of his answers seem more political than you might expect. Not overtly but in the sense that he seems to be positioning himself to appeal to moderates.

Some examples include that he feels responsible for growing U.S. jobs, pushing for programming courses in schools, pushing for improved healthcare for veterans.

This is what we said about him last year:

  1. Tim Cook would obviously run as a Democrat as he has already aligned himself quite closely with the DNC. He has the operational skill to run a large enterprise but it is unclear if he has the charisma to get the job done.

We still think he has the operational smarts to do the job and his moderate view puts him in similar company with Michael Bloomberg but he hasn’t gotten more charismatic in the past six months so its doubtful he’d get very far.
