The results have been nothing short of staggering. Process costs per purchase order were cut by 11% and time to market by 20% &#8211; all in less than six months. Solutions like this are touted as MRI for your business in a Forbes&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/gilpress\/2017\/06\/15\/from-big-data-analytics-to-ai-vodafone-and-celonis-mine-data-to-improve-business-processes\/#6303db6f135d\">article<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/gilpress\/\">Gil Press<\/a>. See graphic below.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.tmcnet.com\/blog\/rich-tehrani\/uploads\/Celonis.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.tmcnet.com\/blog\/rich-tehrani\/assets_c\/2017\/06\/Celonis-thumb-500x280-15823.jpg\" alt=\"Celonis.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Data mining, big data and analytics have the potential to transform businesses and many companies are investing now to accrue the benefits before the competition.<\/p>\n<p>You literally can&#8217;t look at the tech news of the day without seeing a wealth of analytics stories. For example, an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iotevolutionworld.com\/\">IoT Evolution<\/a> piece from Cynthia Artin discusses how <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iotevolutionworld.com\/iot\/articles\/432735-grass-always-greener-amazon-opens-aws-greengrass.htm\">Amazon AWS Greengrass<\/a>&nbsp;is allowing for improved analytics &#8211; including examples from Lenovo.<\/p>\n<p>Larry Dignan at ZDNet further <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/salesforce-launches-einstein-analytics-discovery-aims-to-bring-ai-to-business-users\/\">discusses<\/a> Salesforce Einstein Analytics contextual suite of self-service apps throughout its platform.&nbsp;See graphic below.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.tmcnet.com\/blog\/rich-tehrani\/uploads\/einstein-analytics-screen-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.tmcnet.com\/blog\/rich-tehrani\/assets_c\/2017\/06\/einstein-analytics-screen-2-thumb-500x224-15825.png\" alt=\"einstein-analytics-screen-2.png\" width=\"500\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The increased focus on analytics hasn&#8217;t been missed by the media. In fact, in March 2017, Dun &#038; Bradstreet and Forbes Insights <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/forbesinsights\/2017\/06\/12\/data-analytics-is-no-longer-a-nice-option-its-the-core-of-the-enterprise\/#21e2247b77ec\">explored<\/a> the current state of analytics adoption across the enterprise via a survey of more than 300 executives in North America, the U.K. and Ireland across a range of industries.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Some of the findings are fascinating (emphasis added by us):<\/p>\n<p>&bull; Senior executives <strong>finally understand<\/strong> the value of analytics and are making investments in technology, people and processes.<\/p>\n<div id=\"article-0-inread\" class=\"inread ng-isolate-scope inread-active\">&bull; Data analytics <strong>skills gaps<\/strong> <strong>persist<\/strong> across the enterprise, as <strong>27% of analytics professionals surveyed cite this skills gap<\/strong> as a major impediment in their data initiatives.<\/div>\n<p>&bull; Data analytics has moved from IT and finance to the <strong>majority of business functions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&bull; <strong>Analytical methods and tools trail<\/strong> both the appetite and ambition of most business leaders: <strong>23% of analytics professionals are still using spreadsheets<\/strong> as their primary tool for data analysis.<\/p>\n<p>&bull; There is a dire need for better data analytics best practices, with <strong>19% using only basic data models and regressions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&bull; <strong>People capital is a major factor for data analytics success<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&bull; While data analytics has gone mainstream, the <strong>C-suite and senior leadership need to do more to drive the cultural change<\/strong> needed for better utilization of analytics, as <strong>38% of those surveyed say their companies need to do more<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&bull; To move to a data-driven enterprise, business leaders need to do more with all the data their teams are consuming and analyzing. <strong>Only 38% of respondents strongly felt that business leaders took full advantage of their analytics initiatives.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In short, there is a skills gap and an opportunity gap with a small but growing number of companies beginning to take advantage of data analytics to save money and find new customers.<\/p>\n<p>The opportunity is not going to go away &#8211; companies need to be on the leading edge of this curve to stay competitive.<\/p>\n<p><em>One way to be on the forefront is to attend the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iotevolutionworld.com\/iot\/articles\/432733-iot-evolving-see-how-the-iot-evolution-expo.htm\">IoT Evolution<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iotevolutionexpo.com\/west\/agenda.aspx?t=IoT+Business+Intelligence%2fAnalytics\">Business Intelligence and Analytics<\/a>&nbsp;track where you will hear from companies like Tellient, Uptake, GLOBECOMM, IBM, Cradlepoint and many more. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmcnet.com\/scripts\/events\/registration.aspx?theplan=IOT0717-AS\">Register now<\/a> &#8211; the event takes place July 17-20 in Las Vegas.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Data analytics is doing absolutely amazing things for companies&#8230; Recently, Vodafone worked with a venture-backed company Celonis to improve efficiency.
