Located in\u00a0Miami\u00a0\u2013 the gateway to\u00a0Latin America\u00a0\u2013 the new facility will also help the company serve the skyrocketing demand for enterprise services in\u00a0Latin America, as well as from\u00a0South Florida\u00a0organizations doing business there.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"368\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.tmcnet.com\/blog\/rich-tehrani\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/centurylink-Ethernet-E-Services.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12851\"\/><figcaption>CenturyLink Expands its Comprehensive E-Services Portfolio<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This past April, the company added multipoint-to-multipoint capabilities to its\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Ethernet E-Services (opens in a new tab)\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tmcnet.com\/usubmit\/2019\/05\/22\/8960626.htm\">Ethernet E-Services<\/a>\u00a0portfolio to help enterprises simplify bandwidth needs and create seamless, multinational Wide Area Networks to reduce costs and complexity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> &#8220;Our global Ethernet Services platform delivers flexibility, simplicity and scalability so customers can design their network to meet their needs today and in the future,&#8221; said\u00a0Chris McReynolds, vice president, core network services, this past April. &#8220;The reliability of Ethernet and customization driven by our mature SDN platform provides a strong foundation for adaptive networking, hybrid IT and cloud connectivity.&#8221;\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Florida expansion includes a new network gateway, to manage the flow of internet and data traffic on CenturyLink&#8217;s robust global network, and a state-of-the-art, high-efficiency data center. Located in a 500-year flood zone and sitting on one of the highest points in the city, the site is approximately one mile from a network access point (where different sections of the internet&#8217;s high-speed backbone network are connected) and will also connect to three long-haul fiber routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, the gateway will connect to nearby sub-sea landing stations, which provide access to sub-sea communications cables, and a large colocation facility that serves&nbsp;Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initial design began in May, shortly after the purchase of the property, and construction is anticipated to begin in September. CenturyLink expects to begin moving infrastructure into the building in summer 2020.
