Verizon says it has supercharged its premier cloud calling solution, Virtual Communications Express: allowing global enterprises the opportunity to enhance their employee collaboration and productivity while reducing costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By combining it with VOIP, enterprise customers can save costs and improve productivity by sharing trunk capacity across all their sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Users may make long-distance calls to any Verizon Wireless device, or call other Verizon VoIP users via the Wireless Connected VoIP and VoIP IP Enterprise routing features, for no additional charge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verizon\u2019s SD-WAN also enables VCE\ncustomers to enhance user and customer performance; enabling greater diversity,\nresiliency and security with capacity prioritization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verizon now also offers VCE via a\nCisco Collaboration Flex Plan – Webex Calling, which combines the power of\nhosted UC&C capabilities and Verizon\u2019s VoIP connectivity with the added\nflexibility of Cisco\u2019s Flex Plan licensing model. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most importantly, Verizon is the\nonly carrier in the market that supports Cisco Webex Calling in Webex Teams on\na private MPLS network providing enterprises with greater security for their\nbusiness communications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, Verizon\u2019s 5G Ultra Wideband network went live today at the University of Michigan as part of a joint effort with UM\u2019s Mcity to develop 5G solutions for autonomous, connected vehicles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As 94% of car accidents are caused\nby human error, using 5G to help remove humans from the driving process with\nself-driving vehicles has the potential to reduce the number of fatalities a\nyear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Verizon and Mcity are testing\nvarious 5G solutions designed to boost pedestrian safety and avoid car\naccidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the solutions includes installing\n5G-connected cameras at every intersection inside the Mcity test track to help\nidentify traffic and pedestrian patterns to prevent collisions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While connected cars have sensors that can \u201ctalk\u201d to each other to help avoid accidents, cameras connecting to traffic light signals can help protect people walking or biking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We think the increased integration of carriers and UC players like Cisco is great for customers and so is the integration of UCaaS and SD-WAN. As a result, we applaud this Verizon news.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
