This takes time and dissuades readers from clicking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, links to text can lead the reader directly to the supporting information, allowing for more rapid context, understanding and clarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To give you an idea of how this works, Tapcart <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmcnet.com\/usubmit\/2020\/05\/19\/9153599.htm\">raised <\/a>$10 million in Series A funding a month ago. The CEO Eric Netsch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmcnet.com\/usubmit\/2020\/05\/19\/9153599.htm#google_ads_iframe_\/1003160\/120x600_0:~:text=%22We%20have%20been%20very%20fortunate%20to,continue%20building%20the%20future%20of%20mobile.%22\">praised his team<\/a> in a press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you click on the second link above, you see the text in question highlighted:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1170\" height=\"694\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.tmcnet.com\/blog\/rich-tehrani\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Link-to-Text-Fragment-1170x694.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17577\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.tmcnet.com\/blog\/rich-tehrani\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Link-to-Text-Fragment-1170x694.jpg 1170w, https:\/\/blog.tmcnet.com\/blog\/rich-tehrani\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Link-to-Text-Fragment-768x456.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.tmcnet.com\/blog\/rich-tehrani\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Link-to-Text-Fragment-440x260.jpg 440w, https:\/\/blog.tmcnet.com\/blog\/rich-tehrani\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Link-to-Text-Fragment-390x231.jpg 390w, https:\/\/blog.tmcnet.com\/blog\/rich-tehrani\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Link-to-Text-Fragment-220x130.jpg 220w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1170px) 100vw, 1170px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You can see &#8211; rather than include the full quote, the writer can summarize the thoughts and allow the reader to investigate quickly if they are so inclined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a far-faster way to absorb information and as we are constantly bombarded with ever-more information, anything that speeds the process of absorption up is welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This works with many but not all browsers, Safari and Firefox are <a href=\"https:\/\/web.dev\/text-fragments\/#browser-compatibility:~:text=The%20Text%20Fragments%20feature%20is%20supported,to%20the%20Safari%20and%20Firefox%20discussions.\">not onboard<\/a> yet. Also, there may be some uses when <a href=\"https:\/\/web.dev\/text-fragments\/#browser-compatibility:~:text=Note%20that%20these%20links%20currently%20do,textStart%20%23\">linking with Twitter<\/a>. Don&#8217;t worry though &#8211; these browsers will just link to the top of the page &#8211; as links did before this extension came out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also link to multiple text areas on a page using an <a href=\"https:\/\/web.dev\/text-fragments\/#multiple-text-fragments-in-one-url:~:text=Multiple%20text%20fragments%20in%20one%20URL,example%20link%20with%20three%20text%20fragments%3A\">&amp; to separate<\/a>. This needs to be done manually though.
