I would like to send my condolences to the families who lost loved ones in today\u2019s bombing attacks in the UK<\/country-region \/><\/place \/>. I wish those that were injured a safe and speedy recovery. I hope those that were responsible are found quickly and brought to justice.

In case you missed the details, London<\/city \/><\/place \/> was struck by a series of 6-9 separate bombs seemingly aimed at disrupting the city\u2019s transportation system. Buses and subways were primarily targeted.<\/p>\n

From the <\/font>NYTIMES<\/font><\/a>:<\/p>\n

Sir Ian Blair, commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, told reporters at about 11:20 a.m. that "events which may be explosions" had taken place at or around the subway stations at Edgware Road, King’s Cross, Liverpool Street, Russell Square, Aldgate East and Moorgate. He refused to speculate on the cause, but said "we are concerned that this is a coordinated attack."<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Sir Ian said that since the Sept. 11 attacks in the United States<\/country-region \/>, London<\/city \/><\/place \/>‘s emergency services had been preparing for such an incident and that "the situation is being controlled." He warned people to "stay where you are" and not to attempt to travel around London<\/city \/><\/place \/> – in addition to the subway closures, much of the bus system was also closed – and not to call the police or ambulance services unless there was a life-threatening emergency.<\/p>\n

Public transportation services in London<\/city \/><\/place \/> have ceased for the moment and many people were forced to walk as the bombings took place at the tail end of the morning rush hour.
