TelecomNext"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt\"><br \/>There have been more complaints about the <a href=\"http:\/\/voip-blog.tmcnet.com\/blog\/rich-tehrani\/voip\/telecomnext-and-telecom-05.html\"><font color=\"#800080\">TelecomNext<\/font><\/a> show than any event in telecom for 5 years. The conferences apparently are first-rate but there seems to be very low exhibit hall traffic. I did not attend TelecomNext by the way.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt\">In a <a href=\"http:\/\/voip-blog.tmcnet.com\/blog\/rich-tehrani\/voip\/telecomnext-and-telecom-05.html\"><font color=\"#800080\">blog entry<\/font><\/a> last year I pretty much outlined this show was doomed when I published similar comments from Calysto Communications about earlier USTA events.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt\">So I wasn&rsquo;t surprised to hear about a <a href=\"http:\/\/voip-blog.tmcnet.com\/blog\/rich-tehrani\/voip\/telecomnext-and-telecom-05.html\"><font color=\"#800080\">survey<\/font><\/a> from Light Reading indicating that people chose GlobalComm over TelecomNext.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt\">But wait:<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<ul style=\"MARGIN-TOP: 0in\" type=\"disc\">\n<li style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt\">CMP has partnered with the TIA the association behind GlobalComm and the two organizations have recently been acting like one.<\/span> <\/li>\n<li style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt\">Light reading is owned by CMP.<\/span> <\/li>\n<li style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt\">Light Reading performed a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tmcnet.com\/usubmit\/-survey-says-88-percent-voters-choose-globalcomm-event-\/2006\/04\/14\/1572893.htm\"><font color=\"#800080\">survey<\/font><\/a> showing that its readers favor GlobalComm.<\/span> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt\">You know what, although these results could be 100% accurate it seems questionable to have Light Reading putting out something like this as most don&rsquo;t see the connection between Light Reading and GlobalComm.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><strong><span style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt\">Some disclosure points:<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<ul style=\"MARGIN-TOP: 0in\" type=\"disc\">\n<li style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt\">TMC and Light Reading are both working with NetCentrex to sponsor a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tmcnet.com\/voip\/conference\/triple-play-06\/?theplan=D&amp;sc=TMC\"><font color=\"#800080\">Triple Play Symposium<\/font><\/a> <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt\">I have respect for the Light Reading team &ndash; The goal here is not to knock them<\/span> <\/li>\n<li style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt\">There are much worse problems on the Internet when it comes to communications shows. Some event producers have bought off &ldquo;independent&rdquo; bloggers (through special favors, financial incentives, ownership in companies, etc).
