They should all be looking for ways to move up and not downmarket. Surveys have shown that very low-priced VoIP service is synonymous in user&#8217;s minds with shoddy quality.<\/p>\n<p>Does it make sense to be the lowest priced VoIP provider when low price is equated with low quality?<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t think so.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand I do think that what Packet8 has done by going to an <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tmcnet.com\/channels\/small-business-voip\/articles\/2324-8x8-intros-199-annual-voip-plan-with-free.htm\"><font size=\"2\">annual calling plan<\/font><\/a><font size=\"2\"> makes sense. My instincts tell me that even though customers are saving with this new 12 month &#8211; $199 plan, the high initial cost equates to a higher price which may not have any impact on Packet8 image or branding.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"FONT-SIZE: 10pt; COLOR: black; FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA\"><font face=\"Verdana\">&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>Whoops &ndash; eagle-eyed Bret Morrison sent me this message in response to this blog entry.
