In case you aren&rsquo;t aware, like the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.tmcnet.com\/blog\/rich-tehrani\/aims-advances-in-ims.html\"><font color=\"#800080\">A-IMS<\/font><\/a> group, the Next Generation Mobile Networks (NGMN) initiative, which includes China Mobile (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tmcnet.com\/tmcnet\/snapshots\/snapshots.aspx?Company=China+Mobile\">News<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tmcnet.com\/enews\/subs.aspx?k1=%22China+Mobile+Limited%22\">Alert<\/a>)<!--ZZZLinkEndZZZ-->, KPN, <!--ZZZLinkBegZZZ-->NTT DoCoMo (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tmcnet.com\/tmcnet\/snapshots\/snapshots.aspx?Company=NTT+DoCoMo\">News<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tmcnet.com\/enews\/subs.aspx?k1=%22NTT+DoCoMo%22\">Alert<\/a>)<!--ZZZLinkEndZZZ-->, Orange, Sprint Nextel, T-Mobile and Vodafone, will work with existing standards bodies like 3GPP and ETSI. But unlike the Verizon Wireless-led initiative that predominantly focused on the tight-knit CDMA world, NGMN plans to develop next-generation mobile technologies that will take the industry beyond the HSxPA as well as EV-DO.<\/p>\n<p>The reason for this new initiative is that the 2G and 3G operators feel they don&rsquo;t have a voice in IMS &ndash; or a loud enough voice.
