Sometimes all the things I cover coalesce into a story which is hard to — dare I say swallow? Perhaps dissolve is a better word.

What am I talking about? Well you see, last week I was delayed on the runway with other passengers of JetBlue flight 197 on my way to NXTComm. We were about to take off when we turned around and went to the gate which was swarming with police in body armor carrying rifles.

There was some commotion at the front of the plane as witnessed in these photos and then about 20 minutes later — everything seemed fine and we took off. A flight attendant told us one passenger saw something suspicious and called 911.

It turns out the suspicious person was a fellow telecom writer named David Ho and what Ho did is tough to describe as I am too busy laughing about the incident. Of course if I were him I may not find the situation as funny. He put a few tablets of Airborne in liquid and the dissolving substance scared a passenger who called a relative who in turn called the police.

Luckily — Airborne is something I have covered before as well. I buy so much of the company’s products my friends think I own the company’s stock (I don’t). The company’s tablets are advertised to help your immunity system and I have taken them on airplanes as well.

As Ho says in a very well-written article, it is a good thing the rubber gloves didn’t come out for this one.

 Always an adventure.

If you are a reader of my blog you know that from time to time I write about things that don’t have to do with telecom.
