UK Court: Nokia Didn't Infringe on Two Qualcomm Patents

March 4, 2008

Yesterday, a ruling by a High Court Judge in the UK determined that Qualcomm's patent infringement claims against Nokia were not valid.

The ruling had considered whether or not Nokia infringed on two Qualcomm patents related to power saving and control technology.

Left unaddresed were other patent related legal issues between the two companies, such as Qualcomm-patented W-CDMA technology, which Nokia had been using under a license up until April, 2007.

Nokia has viewed these licensing fees as excessive.

Qualcomm has filed a total of 11 lawsuits against Nolia in the last two years, without success thus far.
