China Approves 25 Tech Standards; MMS Improvements Eyed
ChinaTechNews.com says this morning that the China Communications Standards Association (CCSA) and the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry (MII) have approved a total of 25 communications industry standards.
Most of the approvals, which will take formal effect on March 1, 2008, involve TD-SCDMA and HSDPA technology.
Perhaps the most mission-critical of these approvals pertain to W-CDMA and CDMA2000.
Analysts quoted by ChinaTechNews say the latter two standards are necessary to solve interconnection bugs attributable to the way in which China-specific TD-SCDMA handles Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) transmissions.
